George Ella Lyon wins Schneider Family Book Award

A book by Lexington author George Ella Lyon  The Pirate of Kindergarten (Richard Jackson Books (Atheneum Hardcover))  has won the Schneider Family Book Award  — a distinction “for books that embody an artistic expression of the disability experience” in the category for children ages 0 to 10.

The American Library Association (ALA) today announced the top books, video and audiobooks for children and young adults at its Midwinter Meeting in San Diego.

The Pirate of Kindergarten is written by  George Ella Lyon, illustrated by Lynne Avril and published by Atheneum Books for Young Readers, an imprint of Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing Division.
