Kentucky native, author Chris Offutt has written Episode 6, “Careless Love,” for the current season of HBO’s Treme, airing this Sunday, October 28. Fats Domino is in the episode.

Offutt is the author of Kentucky Straight,   Out of the Woods,  and No Heroes, along with essays like (“Porn Bought My Football” and “The Hot Rod.”)

The new anthology, Grit Lit, includes his story, Melungeons (from Out of the Woods), but he’s become known in recent years for his work on HBO’s True Blood and the Showtime series, Weeds.

Today’s Washington Post published a lengthy AP interview with Offutt, where he discusses everything from Jaguars and uncooperative TV possums to the seductiveness of Hollywood and his next novel.

Filming begins this week on a final, five-episode season of Treme.
