New Year’s Eve falls on a Wednesday for 2014, ringing into 2015, so Lexington’s Sunday liquor laws will not come into play for this year’s bar and restaurant celebrations. A sampling of New Year’s Eve (2014)  and New Year’s Day (2015) festivities follows.

New Year’s Eve 2014 Dining in Lexington

What restaurants are open on New Year’s Eve 2014? Special menus? Prix fixe? Parties and Celebrations? Live music? There’s something for everyone.

Azur Restaurant AZUR Restaurant & Patio’s 10-year anniversary will ring in the New Year with a four-course prix fixe dinner Dec. 31. AZUR will offer live music at 8 p.m. and a midnight champagne toast. Reservations are required with choice of three seating times at 5, 7 and 9 p.m. offering a menu of favorites from chef Jeremy Ashby like lobster crepes, winter greens salad and stuffed gnocchi caprese. The cost is $55 per person for early birds at 5 p.m. and $70 per person at 7 and 9 p.m. Call for reservations.

Blue Heron on Jefferson will be open on New Year’s Eve offering a prix fixe four course menu. Choices will include wild mushroom croquette with salsify puree, grilled filet of beef tenderloin with warm fingerling potato salad, Zinfandel sauce and Point Reyes blue, dark chocolate espresso soufflé with Bourbon crème anglaise.

Brasabana will have a prix fixe menu, and live music by the Big Maracas.

County Club will be open for a “low-key” New Year’s Eve that will include bourbon New Year’s punch.

Dudley’s at 259 W. Short will offer a special three-course New Year’s eve menu, including special appetizers, entrees, and desserts.

Enoteca on Jefferson will be open New Year’s Eve, offering specials on bottomless bubbly and oysters.

Holly Hill Inn in Midway (426 N. Winter Street) will start 2015 with a seven-course tasting menu featuring lucky foods at the Holy Hill Inn. Special wine flight available.

Jean Farris Winery at 6825 Old Richmond Road will offer a special menu that can be ordered a la carte or prix fixe. This will include clam chowder, Kentucky Limestone Bibb (including black eyed peas, country ham, fennel fronds, and goat cheese buttermilk dressing), oysters, and a special Sea & Shore entree including half a lobster tail, dry-aged rib eye, puma, duchess potatoes, and red pepper wrapped asparagus.

The Julep Cup will be open New Year’s Eve 2014. $75/per person. Reservations recommended.

Natasha’s on Esplanade will offer a romantic New Year’s Eve Chef’s dinner or a choice from their a la carte menu. There will be strolling musicians and toasting the new year at 7 pm, 9 pm, and 12 am. Seating from 5 pm to 10 pm. Half price movie tickets available for those going to the Kentucky Theatre to see Wild or The Imitation Game.

Nick Ryan’s on Jefferson will be open on New Year’s Eve, offering their regular menu and three specials. Reservations recommended.

RJ Corman dinner train will offer a New Year’s Eve train ride, with a four-course gourmet meal and champagne.

Sabio will offer a prix fixe dinner 5 pm to 10 pm. An after-dinner New Year’s Eve party begins at 10.

20141222_130729Sal’s and Malone’s on Tates Creek will offer a special four-course dinner, including an appetizer, salad, steak, seafood, and dessert. Entree’s will include filet mignon, crab legs, seared scallops, sea bass imperial, and prime ribeye. A holiday buffet option will also be available. Desserts include salted caramel, turtle cheesecake, and coconut cream pie.

School Restaurant on Old Todds Road will include white tuna and salmon sashimi as part of their New Year’s Eve prix fixe menu.

Stella’s on Jefferson will be open on New Year’s Eve and is offering a four-course menu.

Village Idiot at 307 W. Short, is offering a five course prix fixe menu and will be tapping rare beers, including, but not limited to Goose Island Bourbon County Stout, Prairie Christmas Bomb etc. Call for reservations.

Wines on Vine at 400 Old Vine will offer a three-course menu featuring three possible entrees, including beef medallion with lobster tail, pan-seared salmon, and Berkshire pork chop in a dijon mushroom sauce. A complimentary glass of champagne is included.

Winchell’s at 348 Southland Drive will offer its  annual New Year’s Eve lobster boil (reservations start at 4 pm). The three course meal includes clam chowder, whole lobster with potato and vegetable, and seasonal fruit cobbler, and a free glass of champagne. Reservations recommended.

New Year’s Eve Hotels and Inn Packages 2014

The Best Western at 5532 Athens Boonesboro Road offers a New Year’s Eve Party Package that includes deluxe accomodations, entrance to a party for two, party favors, and entrance to a New Year’s Eve Party with DJ Jimmy Mack from 9 pm until 1 am. There will also be a hot breakfast buffet on New Year’s Day from 7 – 11 am.

Campbell House at 1375 S. Broadway offers the New Year’s Eve Speakeasy Package, including overnight accommodations, a specialty dinner at Kilbern’s Restaurant, a bottle of champagne, admission to the Grand Ballroom and Bogart’s Lounge where Space Cowboys and Encore will provide entertainment throughout the evening, breakfast buffet New Year’s Day in Kilbern’s and a late checkout of 2 pm.

The Clarion Hotel at 1950 Newtown Pike offers three party venues: Radio 80’s in the Grand Ballroom, Karoake in The Sports bar Bourbon Bar & Grill, and Matt the Seven Foot DJ in the open function area. Doubletree Guest Suites at 2601 Richmond Road offers a New Year’s special featuring accommodations for two, two tickets to the New Year’s Eve Celebration, a complimentary bottle of champagne, and a breakfast buffet for two New Year’s Day. The special includes open bar and food, party favors, a DJ, dancing, and a balloon drop at midnight. There will also be a full breakfast buffet on New Year’s Day. The Hyatt Regency Lexington at 401 W. High Street’s New Year’s Eve Package includes special guestroom accommodations and New Year’s Day breakfast buffet for two in the Bluefire Grill, plus a late checkout. New Year’s Day Dining in Lexington, 2015

Alfalfa at 141 E. Main offers a New Year’s Day brunch from 10 am to 3 pm, including the regular menu and a few New Year’s specials.

Good Foods Market and Cafe at 455 Southland Drive will serve their hangover brunch at their hot bar buffet on New Year’s Day 2015.

Lexington Diner will be open on New Year’s Day and serving brunch specials all day.

Sal’s and Harry’s on Tates Creek will be open regular hours on New Year’s Day.

New Year’s Eve 2014 at Lexington’s Bars and Breweries

Al’s Bar will feature A Tribe Called Lex present Beastie Boys Tribute, featuring Shiesty Khrist and more.

Belle’s is offering cocktail and champagne specials on New Year’s Eve 2014, with DJ Keith Dunn upstairs in the Hunt Club.

Blue Stallion Brewing  at 610 W. Third Street will have a tap takeover with Rooster Brew.

Charlie Brown’s at 816 E. Euclid will offer happy hours from 2-7 pm and 10pm -1 am.

Cheapside Bar & Grill at 131 Cheapside Street features Soul Funkin’ Dangerous and Mello. A fusion of soul, funk, blues, jazz with some hip hop and ear drum pleasing instrumentals, Soul Funkin Dangerous is both successful and local to Lexington.

Country Boy Brewing at 436 Chair Avenue will be open regular hours on New Year’s Eve, along with a beer dinner provided by the Gastro Gnomes.

Grand Reserve at 903 Manchester Street is hosting a Downtown New Year’s Eve party on Wednesday December 31. Live music by Jordan English Band, the Wooks. Tickets will include two drinks from the bar, a champagne toast, and hors d’oeuvres. Black and gold attire suggested.

Lexington Beerworks at 213 North Limestone Street will ring in the new year with live music, a champagne toast at midnight, no cover all night, and half priced food until 8 pm. Live music Jason Hugg.

Natasha’s on Esplanade will offer a dance party starting at 10 pm, featuring Special Session. There will be a New Year’s toast at midnight.

O’Neills offers live music with Joey and the Cruisers, buffet, champagne toast at midnight, and door prizes.

Parlay Social at 257 W. Short Street will host blues legend Tee Dee Young. Entrance includes party favors, champagne, and an entree from the special NYE menu. Guest must arrive by 9 pm to ensure their reserved table,  and the kitchen will be open until 11 pm.

Paulie’s Toasted Barrel at 517 West Main Street’s NYE Bash will feature both Aly’an and The Five Below Band. There will also be two DJ’s playing during the band breaks. Tickets are on sale now; entrance includes party favors, a drink ticket good for call and house liquors, beer and wine, a personal bottle of champagne for the midnight toast, and heavy hors d’oeuvres from 8 – 11 pm.

The Pub at 3750 Mall Road will host two champagne toasts, one at 7 pm to celebrate the British New Year, and another one at midnight. In addition, there will be a Hognanny celebration and 75 pint glasses will be given away throughout the night.

Rooster Brew will be doing a Tap Takeover at Blue Stallion at 610 W. Third Street.

Soundbar at 208 S. Limestone will open at 8 pm New Year’s Eve. There will be two DJs, multiple balloon drops on both levels, loads of party favors, and a professional photographer. The NYC Times ball drop will be shown live, and a champagne toast at midnight is included.

West Sixth Brewing at 501 W. Sixth is hosting a New Year’s Eve party for 2014 into 2015, with a special beer release at midnight, and late night specials from Smithtown Seafood and food trucks. There will also be tons of “to-go” specials on Crowlers, Growlers, and six-packs. Finally, there will be commemorative glassware to all midnight guests.
