Andy Mason, a CD, and You

Lexington musician Andy Mason (the Swells, the Big Maracas, and onetime Blueberry, for a decade or so) has a new CD coming out. Probably.

The tab on his kickstarter page reads: “This project will only be funded if at least $1,000 is pledged by Thursday Aug 12, 8:20pm EDT.”

With a month to go, the site says he has 10 backers and has raised $330.

He explains it here:

Hi. I’m A. Mason, and I’m extremely excited to have a new cd coming out! Though I’ve been dabbling away for some time now in various projects – some caught on cd, some not – this would be my 2nd under my own name (albeit shortened). In 2008, I released ‘Illumination’ with the help of some amazing friends of mine. Now I’ve nearly completed the new one, but I need help getting it out there. And that, as they say, is where you come in…
How, you ask? By essentially pre-ordering the cd you’re effectively helping me get it mastered and pressed. Simple as that. I’ll send it to you as soon as it’s pressed (which means you’ll get it a few weeks after this campaign is done). You can also get my last cd and some bonus downloads that no one’s really heard yet (culled from all those years dabbling). And of course, you’ll be saving a couple of dollars on in-store and/or shipping costs. Delivered right to your door, along with the satisfaction of knowing you were a part of it! You can check out a couple of the new tracks on any of these sites:

The minimum pledge is $1, but for $25 or more you’ll get the new CD, the last CD, plus the “digital downloadable EP of the best odds and ends from years past.”
