Up for a little drive after work? Try the Sixth Annual Taste of Georgetown with food, wine, music, and an art auction.

My Name is Faith is playing at the Lyric Theater with a followup Q&A with film producer and Faith’s mother, Tiffany Sudela-Junker.

Life is Sweet,  is being screened at the Farish Theater as part of their World Classic Cinema series.

Fountain Films is showing The Princess Bride tonight at Triangle Park.  Out at Jacobson Park, Free Friday Flicks is showing The Odd Life of Timothy Green.

SATURDAY June 29, 2013

The 8th annual Walk for Wishes® is today, raising funds for Make-A-Wish® Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana.  Choose between a 1 or 3 mile walk.

Lexington’s annual festival to raise awareness for the LGBT community, Pride, is today at the Robert F. Stephens Court House Plaza.

If you’re on UK’s campus, watch out for traffic related to the Miss Kentucky Pageant at the Singletary Center at 7 pm.

Chevy Chase Business Owners (CCBO) are organizing a showcase at the intersection of Euclid Avenue and East High Street on Saturday, June 29, to promote and fundraise for the upcoming annual Chevy Chase Street Fair on August 27.

Coralee and the Townie’s will be playing at 7 pm tonight at Willie’s.

 

SUNDAY June 30, 2013

Sundays a drag?  Natasha’s has  Brunch with the Queens, hosted by Chelsea Pearl and her special guests.

Affrilachian poet and Kentucky’s Poet Laureate, Frank X Walker, will read and sign his latest collection at Morris Book Shop today.

Kim Richey will be performing at Natasha’s  tonight at 8 pm.

 

MONDAY July 1, 2013

Tonight’s Woodsongs is The Deadly Gentleman, a folk and grass band out of Boston, at the Lyric Theatre.

 

TUESDAY July 2, 2013

Tonight’s Southland Jamboree features The Velvet Blue at 7 pm.

Big Band Jazz Series is showcasing the Lexington Concert Band at Ecton Park tonight.

Lexington’s July 4 holiday festivities kick off with the Great American Pie Contest and Ice Cream Social at Cheapside Square at lunchtime.

Today’s road trip is to Louisville, for a David Byrne and St. Vincent concert.

WEDNESDAY July 3, 2013

Tonight’s Red Barn Radio is Robinson Treacher, at ArtsPlace.

Movie lovers can go see Two For The Road, part of the movie classics series, at the Kentucky Theatre.

 Get the Led Out, which features members of Chico Fellini, Fanged Robot, Coralee and the Townies, and Killer Meteor, will be playing at Cosmic Charlie’s tonight.

Transy is hosting the annual Free Patriotic Concert at 8 pm on the lawn of the Old Morrison building as part of the Lexington July 4 festivities.

 

THURSDAY July 4, 2013

The day of  festivities begins with a good workout, the Bluegrass 10,000 Run at 7:30 am.

After you win the 10 K, consider stopping by the Lexington downtown street festival, featuring arts and crafts, food and beverages, and commercial vendors, from 9 am to 6 pm.  The Lexington Parade lines up on Midland Avenue and begins at 2 pm.

Finish the national holiday with the classic fireworks display at 10 pm downtown.
