Below is a comprehensive list of Labor Day festivities, September 5th, 2016 in Lexington and surrounding areas for the holiday weekend, as well as time changes, delays and closings.

Holiday Trash Collection in Lexington

The Division of Waste Management will adjust its collection schedule for the upcoming Labor Day holiday on Monday, September 5, 2016. Residents who normally receive Monday pick-up will receive their collection service on Wednesday, Sept. 7th. No collection will be made on the holiday. Residents who normally receive residential pick-up on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays will be serviced as usual.

Residents who normally receive Monday pick-up should set their Herbies, Rosies and Lennies out after 4 pm on Tuesday, September 6, 2016.

Businesses that have city waste management services for their dumpsters (landfill-bound and recycling) normally receiving pick-up on Mondays will have their units picked up on Tuesday, September 6th. Businesses normally having pick-ups on Tuesdays will have their units serviced on Wednesday, September 7th. Thursday and Friday pick-ups will be made as usual.

Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government offices, as well as the Lexington Recycling Center, the City’s Electronic Recycling Center and the Haley Pike Waste Management Facility will be closed on the holiday.

Lexington’s pools at Shillito, Woodland and Tates Creek will be open from 11-6 on Labor Day. This is the last day the pools will be open for the 2016 season.

Grocery stores, including Kroger, Meijer, Wal-Mart, Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, and Good Foods will be open during regular hours on Labor Day.
