Some households have hazardous materials that need to be safely disposed. Where can they be disposed? When can residents dispose of these materials?

During these events, Fayette County residents can drop off the hazardous materials that have accumulated in their homes and the city will properly dispose of them.

Products that contain corrosive, toxic, or flammable ingredients are household hazardous wastes (HHW). These materials include common household items such as paints, cleaners, oils, batteries, and pesticides. Improper disposal can pollute air, water or soil, and pose a threat to human health.

The list below are items that can be disposed of at this event:

  • Acids
  • Acetone
  • Antifreeze
  • Asbestos
  • Alkaline Batteries
  • Lead-acid Batteries
  • Brake Fluid
  • Calcium Chloride
  • Carpet Cleaning Wastewater
  • Fertilizer
  • Fire Extinguishers
  • Fluorescent tubes and compact fluorescent lightbulbs (CFLs)
  • Fungicides
  • Gas and Gas Tanks
  • Helium Tanks
  • Hydraulic Fluid
  • Lacquer
  • Mercury
  • Motor Oil and Filters
  • Paint and Polyurethane
  • Paint Thinner
  • Pepper Spray
  • Pesitcides
  • Propane Tanks
  • Sealer, Roofing Tar, and Driveway Sealer
  • Swimming Pool Chemicals
  • Transmission Fluid
