There is a Library Lecture Series with Pellom McDaniels III at the Lyric Theatre on Wednesday, April 29.

“At the Lyric Theatre & Cultural Arts Center in downtown Lexington, Pellom McDaniels III will present his book, The Prince of Jockeys: The Life of Isaac Burns Murphy. A member of the faculty at Emory University in Atlanta, McDaniels used many resources at the Keeneland Library in his exhaustive research about the famous African-American jockey. Murphy, who was from Central Kentucky, won three runnings of the Kentucky Derby in the late 1800s. He is buried at the Kentucky Horse Park. A reception and book-signing with McDaniels follow the presentation.”
