‘Fear and Loathing,’ Carnegie Center

November 7, 2015 @ 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm

Step directly inside the pages of Hunter S. Thompson’s 1972 cult classic novel for the event Carnegie Classics: Fear in Loathing in Las Vegas. The fourth annual Carnegie Classics event will feature a visual art exhibit, live performances, a Vegas-style buffet, open bar and other artistic surprises – all themed around the late Kentucky-born author’s book “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: A Savage Journey into the Heart of the American Dream.”

The Carnegie Center’s art exhibit “Fear and Loathing: Art Inspired by Hunter S. Thompson” will officially open on the night of the event. The exhibit will feature commissioned works by Lexington artists Clint Colburn, Erica Lynne Cook, Erin Eldred, Pet Gerhard, Levon Kadamyan, Ellen Molle, Lennon Michalski, Ma Turner and Wayne Turner, who will each submit an artwork inspired by the novel in a media of their choice, from painting and sculpture to chalk art and photography; the exhibit will remain on display through Dec. 18.

Other highlights of the event will include two full sets of psychedelic rock performed live by the Lexington band The Other Brothers; performances by leading local drag queens Mya St. James, Cadillac Seville and Jenna Jive of the Bar Complex; a Vegas-style buffet, libations and other artistic surprises, all inspired by the novel and included with admission price.

The event begins at 7 pm on Saturday, Nov. 7.fear
