Lexington Convention Center for The Poverty Forum

presented by Columbia Gas of Kentucky and Kentucky Utilities

The Poverty Forum is held to raise community awareness about poverty with proceeds supporting Community Action Council’s mission to combat poverty.

Fundraiser.

The event is a dinner designed to facilitate a community conversation about poverty. Guest speakers include Mayor Jim Gray.  

Currently, Smiley hosts the late night television talk show, Tavis Smiley on PBS, The Tavis Smiley Show distributed by Public Radio International (PRI) and is the co-host of Smiley & West, also distributed by PRI. The co-hosts, Smiley & Dr. Cornel West, co-authored the book The Rich and the Rest of Us: A Poverty Manifesto.

The proceeds raised by The Poverty Forum will go toward the Council’s efforts to combat poverty.  “

Community Action Council for Lexington-Fayette, Bourbon, Harrison and Nicholas Counties’ mission is to combat poverty. The Council’s mission is to support people with low-income through advocacy, service delivery and community involvement.
