THEATRE: LoveMusik, Farish Theater

November 19, 2015 - November 22, 2015

Bluegrass Opera and Balagula Theatre present LoveMusik: The Kurt Weill Story on November 19-22 at Farish Theater in the Central Library.

“LoveMusik was written by Pulitzer-, Oscar-, and Tony-winner Alfred Uhry (Driving Miss Daisy). It premiered on Broadway in 2007 under the direction of Harold Prince (West Side Story, Phantom of the Opera, etc.). Based on the actual letters of Kurt Weill and Lotte Lenya, LoveMusik tells the touching, funny, and uniquely musical story of the German-Jewish composer, his flight from the Nazi regime, and his marriage to singer-actress Lenya. It has never been professionally produced since its Broadway run, but that’s about to change. The Bluegrass Opera is proud to partner with Balagula Theatre for this unique joint production, and we are also excited to welcome Mr. Uhry and representatives from the Harold Prince Organization to Lexington, as we present the first professional run ever of the work using Uhry’s newly revised script.”

The Thursday, Friday and Saturday performances are at 7 p.m. with a 2:30 p.m.love matinee performance on Sunday.
